When Kobold unveiled plans to launch a watchmaking workshop and retail boutique in Kathmandu, people called the idea crazy. Yet two years after the initial plans for this adventure were drawn up, Kobold Watch Company Nepal Pvt. Ltd. opened its doors for business and launched its unique Himalaya wristwatches. The Himalaya is powered by a Swiss automatic-winding movement housed in a stainless steel case. Luminous hands and numerals on the dial ensure optimal legibility at night.

Handmade in Nepal, the Himalaya proudly displays its country of origin on its dial.

"Made in Nepal" has long been written on such products as handwoven pashminas, handmade rugs, khukri knives and other handicraft items but never before on the dial of a wristwatch. This project therefore holds special meaning to people beyond those directly and indirectly employed in Kobold's Kathmandu operation. It is a matter of great national pride and a boost to the confidence in this country's fledgling economy.

Covered by a 3-year warranty against material flaws and manufacturing defects.
